Does the Electoral College represent the will of the people?

"Our president is chosen by ourselves, directly in practice, for we vote for A as elector only on the condition he will vote for B..." - Thomas Jefferson to Pierre Samuel Dupont de Nemours, 1816.

  1. I do not believe that the electorial votes count for the people because the electorial votes can override the decision of the people.

  2. No because the people can vote for one person to be president, and the electoral votes can overide the people's vote

  8. In theory I believe that this should work. However, frequently the electors lie!!!! Hopefully, they will do as they say.

  9. In my opinion the Electoral College does not represent the will of the people in every election and should be done away with. I believe this is another way to make things more confusing than they need to be. Popular vote is the way to go, after all, that's who the politions work for,the people who voted to put them into office.

  10. I beleive it represents the will of some of the people but not all the time. How can the diverse opinions of millions be represented by so few acurately? Especially when politicians in general usually have an agenda of their own without regard to the wishes of "WE THE PEOPLE", who live in the harsh reality of the real world. I feel our individual votes should be used, not those of persons who vote for us, in order to feel like our vote even counts for anything in the grand scheme of things.

  11. It's the electoral votes that count anyway. This is the very reason why I don't vote.

  12. Everyone should vote for they can stand on a side. Even if the side that was choosen fails at least you tried to make your own life better. Votes to have to matter to who gets to be president, it should made to yourself.

  13. No, the final decision is always made by the electoral votes anyway so the "people" isn't really being represented.

  15. I would have to strongly disagree, If we the people cast a vote yes it counts and makes a difference but all it take is for the electorial votes to overide what we the people think.

  16. No the Electoral College Doesn't because the people should have the right to vote on who they want to run the United states so we can feel safe that the president we select will avoid war and help the general public in all areas.
